FOR NEW BEGINNERS - 1/2 DAY. The magical Kournas lake, Crete's only freshwater lake, is surrounded by stunning nature. It is known for its terrapins and tourism; and makes with all its tavernas, ceramic shops, and pedalo rental places, a great location for an afternoon filled with fun and admiration. So, why not combine it with a unique horse ride? Details of your trip The Horseback riding center is located in Kavros, approx 30-40 min ride from Chania and Platanias area. This English-guided ride is at a walking pace only on sweet and well-trained horses. A perfect choice to get into horse riding! Riding mainly over dirt roads amid olive grooves, the chance to meet Family Sheep is quite big. Of course, there are also some short pieces of tarmac to connect the dirt roads. To let you enjoy the lake in its full beauty, we will not ride down along the lake itself, but you'll get to see the lake from a bird's eye view. Especially during the bright morning ride, the large lake impresses with its turquoise colors and the reflection of the surrounding mountains into the lake. But, for those of you who appreciate their sleep when being on holiday, an afternoon version of this ride also exists. All the horses are gentle, forward, and well-looked after. Of course, they appreciate an apple, carrot, or a slice of bread as a reward! The actual duration of the excursion: 2 hours (08.00-10.00 or 3 hours before sunset) You are kindly requested to be at the ranch, 30 minutes in advance. Upon request is possible to get a transfer with or without spending the afternoon at the lake.
