DETAILS OF YOUR TRIP

Our trip begins by following the western coastline to the Kolymbari village where we will visit a beautiful Gonia monastery which has a significant history at the area. Execptional museum of the monastery has great collection of icons, books and manuscripts as well as an exhibition of priests’ vestments.

From Kolymbari we will continue to Marathokefala and visit a the famous historical cave of Saint John the Hermit. According to tradition Saint John the Hermit was the one who founded the rich ascetic tradition of the island. Inside the cave is a temple of the 15th century and next to it a small room which was used as a Secret School during the Ottoman Era.

Our last stop will be at the Patriotis Winery, a family owned and operated boutique winery and vineyard, with tradition in winemaking that dates back in time. The winery accepts only small groups. Theodora, the owner, will tell us about the history of the winery as well as their wine making process. You will also taste five different wines which are nicely paired with local cheeses.
